A better day today, although it has been unseasonably cold. Very wet, very windy and very cold. We even put the heater on at work today, and there were reports of snow flurries in the local alpine areas. In JANUARY, for goodness sake.
I am taking part in a children’s picture book challenge during 2012. The 12 x 12 in ’12 badge on this page is a link to the website for anyone who may be interested in taking part. There is also a Facebook page for the group once you have signed up for the challenge. The group provides a wonderful means of support and encouragement during the challenge. I am happy to have completed the text for my first picture book. I am now brainstorming ideas for the rest of the challenge. My little notebook goes everywhere with me so I can jot down ideas, observations, and notes when they occur to me. I am enjoying seeing the world through the eyes of children and finding a new awareness of everything around me. My observations of my world and the people that inhabit it have sharpened. Much time has been spent researching websites and finding useful links for aspiring authors. Have a look at the following links for some hints and tips for writing and getting published:
Good luck to all those people participating in the challenge. Here’s to some wonderful inspiration during 2012.
What inspires you? Where do you find your inspiration, and what do you do when you can’t find any?
More questions, and hopefully some answers tomorrow. Goodnight all.
January 8, 2012
It has been a very rainy day here today.
It has given me the perfect excuse to stay indoors and work on my writing tasks. Along with this blog entry, I have also completed my first draft of picture book #1 for the 12 x 12 in ’12 – a Children’s Picture Book challenge. I will continue to work on it and get it more polished. I have also bookmarked a number of helpful writing sites for future reference.
My blog is also now available for viewing via Networked Blogs on Facebook. It is certainly something of a task to keep track of the various blogs and websites I now follow. It is also easy to get distracted and sidetracked by them. I start reading and click on recommended links which leads to further reading and more links. It takes a very conscious decision to get back on track sometimes. But these little journeys off the track often turn up little gems and treasures, so my favourites list is growing. I also organised my favourites into subgroups today, so they are easier to find. Small steps towards getting my life more organised I know, but steps forward none the less.
You may have noticed that I have not mentioned my food choices yet. Today has been less than spectacular in that regard. Apart from banana on toast for lunch and some cherry tomatoes with my lasagne for tea, my diet has been somewhat lacking today. Oh well, tomorrow is the start of another week. Back on track in the morning.
