The Year of the Dragon begins.   “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” is the traditional greeting for the Chinese New Year meaning  “wishing you prosperity”.

Chinese New Year 2012 (according to the Chinese Zodiac) Year of the Dragon begins on January 23, 2012 and ends on February 9, 2013.  The Dragon is a symbol of good fortune in Chinese astrology.

People born in the Year of the Dragon share certain characteristics. Here are some of the features associated with the sign of the Dragon:

  • Innovative
  • Enterprising
  • Flexible
  • Self-assured
  • Brave
  • Passionate
  • Conceited
  • Tactless
  • Scrutinizing
  • Unanticipated
  • Quick-tempered

It is interesting how much store we place in astrology; I’m sure for most people it is just a bit of harmless fun. Who among us hasn’t checked their horoscope once in a while?  And even if we don’t, most of us would know what our ‘sign’ is, and maybe even a few of that sign’s characteristics.  As long as we don’t take it all too seriously it does no harm.  We need to use rational thought and critical thinking when making decisions that affect the way we live our lives.

No matter what your star sign, or animal sign, or element, I predict another day tomorrow, followed by another night, etc, etc, etc. Hope it’s a good one.  “Gong Xi Fa Cai!”

Really enjoying reading your blog Heather – very interesting. I am tempted to do something similar, perhaps around bringing up a ‘soon to be’ teenager. Well done on some great writing. Sal x

    • Thanks Sal. You should do it. You have lots of interesting things to write about – your lovely daughter, your chooks and garden, your life in general. Everything always seems to be interesting in your life. I would certainly love to read anything you write. And don’t forget about your great photos! Wishing you all the best Sal. Heather 😀
